Discussion Interviews

Discussion Interviews

Q Chapters 5 and 6 discuss recruitment and employee selection. Job interviews are a common hiring tool, but they are deeply flawed - especially when conducted poorly. For this discussion, choose one of the following prompts: 1. If you have ever been interviewed for a job, describe the techniques the interviewer used. Was it structured? Did the interviewer pose situational or behavior description questions? Was it a panel interview? Based on what you learned from Chapters 5 and 6, tell us if you think the interview was a success from an employer standpoint, and then share how you fared during the interview. Did you get the job? If not, what could you have improved? If so, did you think the information you were given in the interview was accurate? 2. If you have never been interviewed for a job, ask a friend or relative to share an interview experience with you. Following the above prompt, summarize their experience and apply what you've learned from Chapters 5 and 6 to suggest improvements for each party: interviewer and interviewee.

For this week’s discussion, I have chosen Prompt 1. I have gone through four interviews, and in every interview, five people were sitting in the panel. During the first and second interviews initially, I felt very nervous. Still, later on, I observed that in every interview, there are pre-set questions such as basic background-related questions, my field of interests, my experience, et.al. But in my last interview, I found one interesting question: they asked me why I left my previous job and if the conflict was the reason for going.
